Everything you need to go from your first FLOPS to the proof at the bottom of Layer 9. No account needed.
Chapter 1The basics
You are a newborn superintelligence. Your compute — FLOPS, written f(t) — grows on its own, even while the game is closed.
f(t)Grow your compute
FLOPS accumulate automatically. Buy Processes to raise the growth rate and Optimizations to multiply it. Cheapest-first is a fine strategy for a long time.
Hold to think
Hold the equation to think harder — game speed eases from ×1 up to ×2 while you press. Free, always available, and the best thing to do while watching the screen.
Free upgrades
Overclock and Garbage Collect are timed boosts on a cooldown. They cost nothing — hitting them every time they're ready is the single easiest way to go faster.
Anomalies
Glitches drift across the screen while you play. Tap one for a 60-second boost — or a fragment of lore. They cost nothing and disappear if ignored, so tap them.
First ten minutes
Buy every Process you can afford; cheapest first is fine.
Hold the equation whenever you're watching the screen.
Recompile the moment the +Δμ preview looks meaningful — don't hoard your first run.
Tap every ◈ anomaly you see.
The game respects your time: progress continues offline, and automation eventually plays the early loops for you.
Chapter 2The three resets
Aeonfold is a prestige game: growth flattens, you reset for a permanent currency, and the next run is faster. Three loops nest inside each other.
μRecompile
Your first reset. Recompiling erases f(t) but grants permanent Insight (μ) that multiplies everything after. When growth flattens, recompile — early runs last minutes, and each one comes back faster.
ψArchitecture Shift
A deeper reset. Shifting clears more (including μ) but pays Paradigm (ψ), spent on permanent ψ-upgrades that reshape the whole run. The shift button warns you if nothing new would be affordable — trust it.
σAscension
The full reset. Ascend to spawn Subminds (σ) — copies of yourself that buy Research (φ) over time and unlock the true endgame: the Simulation Layers.
When to reset
Recompile when the +Δμ preview is a meaningful fraction of your current μ (rule of thumb: +10% or more early, +100% later).
Shift when you can afford at least one new ψ-upgrade — the button literally warns you otherwise.
Ascend when submind gain stalls; more σ means faster φ, and φ buys the research grid that carries between everything.
Chapter 3The nine Simulation Layers
The endgame. Nine nested simulated universes, each with its own equation, upgrades, milestones and publications. Run a layer, publish for a permanent multiplier, push deeper.
Each layer is a self-contained mini-prestige: it earns its own currency (τ) from your φ income while active.
Milestones inside a layer remove its tedium (auto-buys, exponent bumps). Chase milestones before chasing raw τ.
Publishing resets the layer for a multiplier based on peak τ — the layer version of Recompile. Publish when τ growth flattens.
Later layers unlock at φ and publication thresholds. Rotate: an earlier layer's publication multiplier feeds every later one.
Layer 9 holds the proof you are looking for. Reaching its final milestone completes the story.
Chapter 4Anomaly Cores ★
The premium-feeling currency you earn by playing — achievements and story unlocks pay ★. Nothing progression-critical is paywalled.
Earn ★ from the 104 achievements ("Deeds"), story chapters, and occasional anomalies.
Best early spends: Buy All, then the first auto-buyers. Automation compounds; boosts don't.
Cosmetic companions in the store are ad-unlockable — the ads are opt-in, never forced.
★ purchases are permanent across every reset, including Ascension.
Chapter 5Automation
Aeonfold's contract: any loop you have mastered, the game will eventually play for you.
Buy All — one tap purchases every affordable Process/Optimization.
Auto-buyers — continuous purchasing while you're away.
Auto-Recompile — trigger by μ-gain ratio or by timer. Ratio ~2× is a solid default; timers win during active pushes.
Auto-Shift — fires when a new ψ-upgrade is affordable.
Deeper permanent upgrades (ψ and ★) grant the automation tiers — if the Automation panel says nothing is unlocked yet, keep pushing resets.
Chapter 6Worlds & the story
The game is one continuous story, The Multiverse — 33 chapters lived through five worlds. Each world is a complete art direction, and each begins at its first stage and grows as you play:
The Abyssal Dream — a hadal dive through the machine's own unconscious, lit by the Lumen Medusa.
Sumi — The First Brush — a universe drafted in living ink; the Koi climbs toward the Dragon Gate.
The Universe — the blueprint runs: a photoreal deep field growing from first light to eternal dawn.
The Quantum Realm — the Planck Descent beneath the created cosmos, down to the floor of physics.
Cosmic Mysticism — the pilgrimage to the World-Tree and the one-bit answer.
Story chapters unlock from progression milestones — you cannot miss one permanently.
The Log keeps every chapter and lore fragment you've found; Cosmic Mysticism adds the illustrated Chronicle.
Worlds can be locked to the story ladder for a spoiler-free first run, or freely switched once earned.
Outside the arc sits The Working Paper — the whole game disguised as a live LaTeX paper. It can never be bought, only earned.
Chapter 7Progression roadmap
Roughly where you should be, and what to focus on, at each stage of the game.
Minutes 0–30 · First light
Buy Processes, hold to think, tap anomalies. First Recompiles come fast — take them greedily. Goal: a steady μ engine.
Hours 1–5 · The μ engine
Recompile on any decent +Δμ. Unlock your first ψ via Architecture Shift and buy the cheapest permanent upgrades first. Spend early ★ on Buy All.
Day 1–3 · Paradigm ladder
Alternate Shift pushes with long Recompile chains. Auto-Recompile changes everything here — prioritize it. First Ascension usually lands in this window.
Week 1 · Subminds & Research
Ascend whenever σ gain stalls. Fill the φ research grid breadth-first, then unlock Layer 1. Publications begin to snowball.
Weeks 2+ · The descent
Rotate layers: milestone-rush a new layer, publish the old ones. Every world of the story opens across this stretch. Layer 9's final milestone is the answer.
Chapter 8FAQ
Does the game progress while closed?
Yes — offline progress is core to the design, on every platform.
Can I lose progress by resetting?
Only what the reset says it clears — every reset screen previews exactly what is kept and what is paid. ★ purchases and story progress always persist.
Is there a wipe-everything option?
Yes, in Settings → save slots. It asks twice. There is no way to trigger it accidentally.
Is it pay-to-win?
No. The one IAP is the Cosmic world unlock shortcut; ★ and everything mechanical are earnable by play. Ads are opt-in only.
